Script&Go had the opportunity to interview a production director from property developer Groupe Giboire on their construction management digitisation. The director spoke of Giboire’s use of Script&Go’s construction management digitisation solution, BatiScript. He explained how it has facilitated the digitisation of his real estate teams and operatives work processes.
It is now clear property developers can digitise and benefit from a ‘paper-free’ mobile construction management digitisation solution. Johan Thetiot, Script&Go’s digital marketing manager for BatiScript, invited Mr Renoulin, from Groupe Giboire to answer a few questions on their digitisation and use of BatiScript.
Giboire interview highlights
Highlights from Johan’s interview with Renoulin are given here :
Renoulin explained that as production director at Giboire he is in charge of supervising production teams (assistants and operatives), as well as legal teams that contribute to their construction works. He described how BatiScript by Script&Go was mainly used by their teams during the construction phase and has affected the real estate construction activity of Giboire in the following ways :
- Information transmission simplification
BatiScript helped us avoid the need for multiple versions of the same file and to reduce the back and forth communication between the architect and the client. This is because the construction file update process is timely rendering the information sharing process fluid.
- Clear, targetted and up-to-date requests
We fulfilled our part of the work better, allowing us to raise our quality requirement level with architects and other organisations. BatiScript allowed us to easily produce up-to-date and personalised lists. Previously defect or snag lists were general, not always filtered and their detail that may have been inaccurate or completely erroneous. Our defect lists were hardly usable.
- Defect / snag follow-up until completion
Previous Excel tools were not up-to-date and wound up being abandoned after a few months. The simple use of BatiScript allowed us to follow works until completion, even if there were only a few late issues to resolve.
- Multiplication of pre-handover defects and real-time entry
With BatiScript it is simple to call out several groups of defects (snags). However if checks are not carried out at the right time, over-abundance can make it difficult for organisations to follow. Due to this, we have modified our site completion schedule.
- Improved use analysis
From the analysis of the distribution of pre-handover data, we have been able to measure the range of practices and choose the best functioning process according to these sectors.
- Reallocation of time spent on value-added tasks
BatiScript allowed us to free up our time in order to manage projects better and to our clients’ advantage. We have been able to analyse task progress and estimate completion forecasts in relation to the original schedule better.
BatiScript training and takeup
Renoulin also explained that Script&Go accompanied Giboire in the take-up and deployment of BatiScript within their organisation. It was necessary to counter any reticence and assumptions of complexity. They had to show collaborators that the tool was simple to use and that it was going to help them in their daily tasks.
He added that “thanks to the initial training and the establishment of a tool learning process, we could allow our teams operate in the field. Today, we train our users internally to give them a personalised response that relates to our work processes. New collaborators are trained by those that have already used BatiScript.”
He then elaborated, “at Giboire, the rate of take up by our production teams was 100% ! There has been very little reticence from the point of view of defect management data input which has helped the internal deployment of BatiScript. He said that all their real estate teams are equipped, which represents 40 internal licences with around 30 BatiScript users each week. It has been so successful that we will soon deploy this tool within another department.”
Key benefit of using BatiScript for construction management digitisation
Finally, Renouin confirmed that BatiScript allowed them to attain a higher quality level which has led us to modify their processes. He said that they now work several times over, notably in the control of paintwork onsite. They have also modified internal processes to gain in quality and efficiency. All these changes meant we needed to foresee a number of exchanges with operational teams, to identify their problems well as adapting the use of the tool for them and to accompany their uptake of it.
Remarking that BatiScript is a “formidable tool” Renoulin explained that it allowed them to have access to information while mobile in real-time. With it they have greater transparency, save information processing time and can adapt to individual user rhythms in the consultation of data entered.
BatiScript is installable on a Windows PC and can be used on multi-OS devices, smartphones and tablets by construction management teams, in the office or on site as needed.
[*Update : BatiScript 1.17 is now available !]
